York Minster Cathedral floor covered in real grass

Real grass carpets the floor of York Minster for the Rose Dinner event.

Just discovered this cool company which installs real grass at events and venues including York Minster for the Rose Dinner earlier this month.

More than 900 guests attended, held to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and to raise money for the York Minster Fund. Guests walked and dined on a carpet of grass.

Wow!Grass! put real grass in places you don’t usually find it. The grass is grown on soft felt made from 100% recycled British textiles. There is no soil or mess to deal with and the grass is flexible so it can go up walls, across ceilings and around most things you can imagine – inside and out.

They have also turned Trafalgar Square into a village green and the Dorchester Hotel into a rugby pitch – complete with rugby posts!

Real grass is soft and green; the smell is evocative, sensuous and memorable. It brings a little of the outdoors indoors. They roll it out for you and roll it back up when you’ve finished with it.

See what the grass wizards at Wow!Grass! have done to make other events grasstastic!
